Transracial Adoption featured on Red Table Talk!
About last week….simply stated - it was a whirlwind as my birthmother, Deborah, my [adoptive] parents, my husband Bryan and I traveled to LA to film episode #15 of Red Table Talk (a talk show hosted by Jada Pinkett-Smith). It is unique for a major media platform to include an adoptee and a birthparent to share our first-hand and complex perspectives. To see my [adoptive] parents sitting at the table alongside myself and my birthmother as we shared our truths communicated their genuine and steadfast support. Although there were a few moments edited for dramatization and comments that were taken out of context, overall, I feel such excitement and hope that perhaps something that was shared will help support the next generation of transracial adoptees!
